As the lead designer for Brand Marketing at Viant, I would manage any event collateral — internal and external — such as animated videos, invitations, hotel activations, signage, and more.
One particular event was the annual company sales conference. With different themes every year, it allowed us to branch out with our concepts and cater to the venues they were hosted in. My biggest task was creating the opening video which generated excitement before the day kicks off.
'Innovation In Action' is meant to highlight all the company themes for the upcoming year. With the latest advancements in tech, like AI, it was imperative to create a more futuristic, yet luxurious, look and feel to this year's visual identity.
One of the first items I tackled was creating a simplified version of 'ViantCon' by abbreviating it to VC, followed by the year the conference is taking place. This way it acts more like an emblem and becomes scalable for many more years.
With this year's theme, Mission Accelerate, retro space posters was the big inspiration to guide the entire event's visual identity.
The goal for the opener was to create this journey of going to the movies. That set the stage for the opening video to take you through space and seeing what corporate goals are to take place for that coming year. And with every movie you also need end credits - perfect way to show all your appreciation to those involved.
Piggy-backing off of our major ad campaign focusing on the cookieless future, it was only imperative to continue that message into 2022's conference opening.
This opening was definitely a more copy-heavy execution, so I leveraged kinetic type to keep the momentum of each key message going. Also taking into consideration the fact that the company was fully remote during this time, the last frame let everyone know that it was truly the start of the latest conference.
